SLCO Community Resources was established in 2016 by Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong with the support of the university's Sustainable Knowledge Transfer Project Fund. As an independent charitable organization, SLCO Community Resources aims to develop and provide self-sustainable community services based on linguistics research, empirical evidence and experience in frontline services, to promote sign bilingualism in communication, education and social inclusion, and to nurture a diversified community without communication barrier.
