Have you ever heard of Snoezelen? Well, Snoezelen is also known as a controlled multisensory environment (MSE) for students with learning disabilities! The Nesbitt Centre is currently fundraising for Snoezelen rooms as a form of therapy for people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

The Nesbitt Centre empowers adults with learning disabilities through vocational education and enterprise. If you haven't been yet, check out their social enterprises Cafe 8 and The Nest Coffee Shop where their students gain enriching work experience in a supported environment.

SparkRaise's Non-Profit Spotlight Series:

Soap Cycling 再皂福 is a non-profit organisation based in Hong Kong that distributes recycled soap to NGOs/charities throughout Asia to provide WASH (water sanitation hygiene). Founded by HKU students in 2012, they focus on youth empowerment, promoting sustainability, and improving lives through increased access to sanitation and hygiene resources, namely soap.

Over the past year, Soap Cycling ran 2 campaigns on SparkRaise to raise funds for an emergency soap relief following Typhoon Mangkhut in the Philippines and to combat low hygiene and sanitation levels in Bandung, Indonesia. Having raised over $25 000HKD, Soap Cycling helps kids stay healthy and clean for a year.

Today, August 12, marks the UN's International Youth Day!

According to the UN, more than half of all children and adolescents aged 6-14 lack basic reading and math skills. This global learning crisis threatens the progress towards the SDGs.

But you can help change this narrative! Currently, the Centre for Refugees is fundraising to cover transportation costs for refugee students in Hong Kong to attend international schools this upcoming year!
