Migrasia, founded in 2016, is a non-profit making online platform for domestic workers and employers to rate and comment on employment agencies in Hong Kong. We hope to professionalize the migrant labor placement process by bringing transparency to agency practices, both good and bad. We are dedicated in promoting a fair recruitment process for migrant workers, and ensuring families who hire workers are not taken advantage of by unethical agency practices.

Dear backers,

Thank you for being a part of our incredible journey to bring our $500 for 500 Crowdfunding Campaign to life.

We successfully raised HKD43,120 online and HKD100,000 in total. It is because of your support and the support of 32 backers that we will be able to subsidize 200 migrant workers for their education and empowerment.

Your donation will go directly to subsidize EmpowerU students, facilitate EmpowerU courses, help extend our curriculum and build future projects including the online learning platform and health screenings etc.

We will notify you about our progress and keep you updated. In the meantime, feel free to contact us at info@empoweru.io if you have any questions.

Thanks again for your support!

All the best,
The EmpowerU Team

EmpowerU $500 for 500 Crowdfunding Campaign: http://bit.ly/EmpowerU-500For500.

Domestic workers represent 10% of our city’s workforce.

Many are mothers who work six days per week. They empower their families by sending them the money they earn here.

But their loved ones are not the only one they empower.

By taking care of your home, by looking out after your children when you’re not here, by doing the groceries and preparing your meals, domestic workers uplift your daily life.

They allow you to have a flourishing professional life, and to have more time to engage in activities that are meaningful to you.

For all of these reasons, it’s time we give a little back and help them reach their goals. These women dedicate their life to others, they deserve to do something for themselves.

Empower U gives them tools to achieve their goals and plan their future, by helping them access education while in Hong Kong. We hold lectures, workshops and trainings to domestic workers on weekends at the prestigious University of Hong Kong. They get to learn about diverse subjects, ranging from Law, Finance and Literature, to Public Health and Nutrition.

630 domestic helpers are currently following this 3-year long program, at the end of which they will graduate from Hong Kong U.

We are currently trying to provide 500 students with a 50% scholarship of HK$500 each. Because every cent counts to help these women build their future a better future, you can help us grow by donating in our fundraising campaign :

For every HK$500 donated, one domestic worker will receive 6 months’ worth of education. Small amount. Big impact.

Dear backers,

Thanks so much for your support for our $500 for 500 Crowdfunding Campaign for domestic workers in Hong Kong!

Over this week, we've invited Sara Elly from Women in Finance to teach EmpowerU students about business startups and entrepreneurship, and we held lectures about health and wellness focusing on the topics of non-communicable diseases and nutritional knowledge. The courses were fruitful, and students' experience was great!

We were also honored to interview Paola Sinisterra, a well-known designer and our guest lecturer for Arts and Culture. She shared her insights into the fashion industry and talked about her teaching experience at EmpowerU. You may access the interview here: https://bit.ly/2HCNTY2.

We want to thank all of our partners and backers so far; it is with your support that we’ve been able to achieve so much.

With HK$37870 already raised, our crowdfunding campaign is still on-going! There are 33 days left, and we hope to raise HK$250,000 in total for our hard-working and aspiring supporters and lovers of local families! Feel free to support us and share our campaign with your families and friends. Thanks!

Best,
The EmpowerU Team

*Reminder to all*

I would like to ask everyone fill out this form: http://bit.ly/2I1yZpT

Please check the blue stamp at the bottom of your contract.

If the name of the stamp does not match the name of your agency, then the agency is illegally sharing their Philippines Labor Accreditation.

If this is the case, please consider reporting this to POLO - HONG KONG SAR, many of the agencies that illegally share the accreditation stamp/chop are also involved in illegal fees and other bad practices.

I would like to ask everyone fill out this form: http://bit.ly/2I1yZpT

We are collecting information about agencies that are operating without the approval of the Philippines government.

It is anonymous and only takes 1 minute to fill out.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks all!

Dear backers,

There are only 40 days left in our campaign! Let’s make it count.

We have raised HK$32,870, but we still need HK$217,130 to reach our goal so that we can offer 500 women at EmpowerU with a scholarship of $500 each!

Over the past weeks, we have invited lecturers from Women in Finance, BNP Paribas and the University of Hong Kong to teach EmpowerU students about business leadership and entrepreneurship, law and anti-trafficking, health and wellness as well as information technology. We also held a team building event at Shek O’ Beach yesterday. It was fun and enjoyable!

Today, we will have CPR training and Fire Safety and Prevention Training for Batch Hope at HKU!

All that we’ve accomplished so far has been rewarding and extraordinary. It is impossible for us to achieve so much without your support.

You may support us with any amount, and please kindly share with your families and friends about our campaign. Even small amounts are of huge impact.

If you have questions, so please feel free to reach out to us at our support address info@empowerU.io.

Regards,
The EmpowerU Team

Hi everybody!

Thanks for all of your support thus far for our $500 for 500 Crowdfunding Campaign! Thank you to everyone who has funded, shared, and gotten involved – we are so grateful for your support!
We want to keep you posted on what we have accomplished so far:
We’ve raised over HK$32,000, 13% of our goal!

Meanwhile, our courses have been running smoothly. Over the past two weeks, we had courses covering anti-trafficking and law, photography and media studies, fire safety and prevention, and business. Students’ takeaways were fruitful!
Check out our pictures taken during classes!

Right now, we have 55 days left in the campaign, and we still need to raise HK$217,230 of HK$250,000 that will be used to expand our curriculum, invite lecturers and subsidize students for course materials!

We’ve been very excited to get this campaign off the ground! We are determined and confident to meet our goal, but we can’t do it without you.
Please consider contributing and pass our campaign https://bit.ly/2CVyk90 on to as many people as you can and help us get the rest of the way there.
Feel free to share our campaign on Facebook and Twitter, too. Thank you for everything!

Sincerely,
The EmpowerU Team

They say that education is the great equalizer. For that reason, I am very proud to be involved with EmpowerU, the largest migrant worker education and empowerment program in Hong Kong, and the only one supported by a university and its professors. We currently have over 700 women who spend their only day off in our classroom for a chance at life-changing education. Please help support them in their dream to achieve a better life through education. Every HK$500 (US$64) provides one woman with 6 months' worth of quality education, and more importantly a community and support group while they live and work away from their family. Please consider giving, or if you live in HK, come join the classes, or even teach one yourself!

Or at least help spread the words. Thank you.
