Story

I will be running The Gobi March, part of the 4Deserts series of 250km self-supported multi-stage races across the driest, oldest, windiest and coldest deserts in the world. This year, the Gobi March will take place in Mongolia from July 29th to August 4th. Please read and follow me on my blog here!

Gobi will be my third 4Deserts race following Atacama (October 2016) and Sahara (Namibia edition, April 2017). But I am especially excited for Gobi because I will be running in support of Run (https://www.runhk.org/), an organisation that uses the power of sports to support and empower refugees in Hong Kong.

Every Thursday evening I have the privilege of training with these most wonderful of people who I am fortunate to call my friends. So I hope you will support my friends, who as refugees in Hong Kong are not allowed to work or even volunteer. Running provides an important opportunity to overcome social isolation and a chance to develop mental and physical strength. This is true for all of us, and I am so happy to be able to bring all my friends together and share my passion for ultra marathons with a purpose.

100% of donations go to RUN, to support existing participants, and to be able to add new participants to the programme.

Any amount is very much appreciated; below is only guidance as to what donation amounts would cover:

  • HK$110 (US$14) covers one track session per week for a vulnerable refugee, including transport and one meal;
  • HK$160 (US$20) will bring a refugee to a race, including transport, pre-race and post-race snack and electrolyte drinks;
  • HK$300 (US$38) will bring two refugees to a race, including transport, pre-race and post-race snack and electrolyte drinks;
  • HK$400 (US$50) covers online study costs for one month for a refugee, including wifi, transport to meet with the refugee's mentor and online study fee;

  • HK$5,300 (US$663) covers one track session per week for a vulnerable refugee, including transport and one meal per session, for one year;
