Dignity For Our Elderly

For forty years China Coast Community (a tax exempt charity registered under s88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance) has retained its unique role as a home defined by its internationally diverse elderly residents.  We have proudly served this community with compassion and dignity -- a community of elderly who are as much Hong Kongers at heart as those who were born here.

Many in our community lived through great challenge in earlier years and today we face different - but still significant - challenges in keeping our community safe and healthy in their later years.

As a result of the coronavirus, the CCC has not been able to take in new residents for some time, thereby causing us financial difficulties which need to be addressed by the raising of additional donations over and above the usual donations that the CCC receives from its generous regular donors.

We are asking for your help today.

Help Us Continue To Provide Dignity For Our Elderly

2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the China Coast Community in Hong Kong.  It should have been a year of celebratory events including a Gala Fundraising Ball but this was not to be.

The year long protests followed by Covid-19 have turned life upside down and has proved to be a difficult time for all of us in Hong Kong.
It has been particularly hard on our elderly residents at CCC.

We have had to prioritise the physical safety of our vulnerable seniors over their emotional well-being. CCC acted quickly to protect the residents by restricting access to the Home, leaving residents with limited contact with visitors from February 2020.

Understandably, some of the residents have been rather bored, grumpy and lonely. Some of them have not understood why they have not been able to see their families or have not been allowed to come and go as they please. Most of their activities and all of their outings have been cancelled in order to protect them against the coronavirus.

Indeed, we have been overcome by their overjoyed reception to the small treats sponsored by kind donors during this time, including a McDonalds breakfast, fresh tropical fruit and handcrafted soap.

Funds Raised Will Go To Immediate Needs First

China Coast Community Limited is approved as a charity under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance.

Each year we run at a deficit and on average we need to raise HKD3,500,000 annually to fill our funding gap to provide our services. Typically a significant proportion of this is raised in the biennial Charity Ball which has now sadly been postponed.

As we continue to implement measures to maintain the safety and comfort of our residents in this environment, expenses continue to creep up. We also need immediate help with providing much needed physiotherapy services (HK$262,000), dietetic services (HK$19,200 per resident), more critical "wear and tear" furniture replacements and resident room painting.

This is why donations, especially today, are so important.

Our Goal Is To Raise At Least HK$300k In A Month
